Eating Out
Dining Gluten-Free
Most restaurants are now familiar with the Coeliac condition and in general are very accommodating. You will feel better once you figure out the places to eat that serve gluten free foods and are aware of your specific needs. Develop a relationship with a local restaurant where the chef is willing to cater for your Coeliac requirements by using separate cooking pans, chopping boards, utensils etc and who understands the gluten free diet is affected by many processed foods, such as malt extract, fillers, flavourings and modified starch. If you become a repeat customer they will increase their awareness of your Coeliac condition and maybe even create a Coeliac menu! I have a local Chinese restaurant who create wonderful dishes for me all gluten free.
Some restaurants may not be vetted by the *Coeliac Society so when booking it is is always good practice to use the same care you would when eating at home or at friends houses.
I have personally visited most of the restaurants listed and had no side effects after my meals.
